"The legislative consolidation of the inalienable right of the Crimean Tatar people as indigenous people of Ukraine to self-determination within the independent Ukrainian state should be completed," Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko said during the requiem for the 75th anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people.
"I firmly believe that we will intensify our aspirations for restoring Ukraine"s sovereignty over the Crimean peninsula with the introduction of amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the definition and consolidation of the right of the Crimean Tatar people to the national-territorial autonomy within the Ukrainian state. We will rely, first of all, on the primordial unity of the Ukrainian and Crimean Tatar people," Petro Poroshenko said.
"Crimea must definitely be returned to Ukraine, and Ukrainian sovereignty must be restored on the Crimean peninsula. I have never had doubts about that. This will happen," Petro Poroshenko emphasized and thanked all Crimean Tatars for their courage and unity.
