Peace with consideration of the national interests of Ukraine means victory, the return of our territory, the release of the captives of the Kremlin and the restoration of our borders. It was stated by President Petro Poroshenko during the visit to the newly built Boryspil Academic Lyceum.
The President especially emphasized the importance of uniting efforts to win. "We really want peace and now, before the elections, everyone promises they will bring peace. I want to emphasize that they can only bring defeat and capitulation. For defeat, capitulation and surrender of Ukraine is peace on the conditions of Russia," Petro Poroshenko said.
"Victory, the return of Ukrainian territory, the return of Ukrainian boys, the restoration of our borders is peace based on the national interests of Ukraine," the Head of State emphasized.
The President added: "Otherwise, all the sacrifices of Ukraine were worthless. So, we pray and the Lord will send us peace. We pray and I hope that in early February the Verkhovna Rada will finally vote for the amendments to the Constitution regarding the EU and NATO".
He noted that all the predictions that nothing would be achieved with the conclusion of the Association Agreement with the European Union, the visa-free regime turned out to be false. "I have now submitted to the Parliament draft constitutional amendments obliging every branch of power - Parliament, Government and President to do everything for Ukraine to become a member of NATO and a member of the European Union," the President recalled.
"We are told again that this will not happen, that we will not succeed. And I say - when we are united, we will overcome this despair ... We were told that we would not get the Tomos - here it is, we were told that we would not get the visa-free regime - here it is, we were told that we would not create the army - here it is. We were told that we would not be able to defend our Ukrainian land - we did it. And we will ensure that Ukraine becomes a full member of NATO and the European Union," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
He once again stressed that the North Atlantic Alliance would provide new quality not only in the system of defense and security of the state - border defense, strengthening of the Armed Forces, training of military personnel, acquisition of the newest weapons. NATO is a security system on the streets of cities and villages - when people can freely go out and be convinced of their own security. "These are the standards of NATO member states. And we are confident that Ukraine will meet these criteria. And we will receive assistance from NATO member states," the President added.
According to him, within three years Ukraine has established effective cooperation with the Alliance countries in obtaining weapons. He recalled how the United States of America, in particular, provided the Javelin anti-tank complexes for Ukraine. "What happened after we got Javelin?" Very simply - Russian tankers refused to go to the touch line. And according to statistics, we no longer have tank shelling. And this (the fact of obtaining Javelin complexes - ed.) saved the lives of hundreds of Ukrainian soldiers, hundreds of Ukrainian heroes," the President added.
He also noted that during the visit to Istanbul, where the Tomos of autocephaly of the Orthodox Church of Ukraine was signed and handed over, the documents were signed on the supply of unmanned aerial vehicles to Ukraine, which also "destroy tanks, armored vehicles at a sufficient distance and, if necessary, surface ships of the enemy".
"They should not come to us. We do not attack anyone, but the Ukrainian army is already different. And this is the format of our cooperation with NATO," the President said.
The Head of State stressed that Ukraine"s accession to the European Union would also increase the living standards of our citizens: "The EU is about living standards. This is about ensuring that Ukrainian workers and Ukrainian pensioners live well".
The President stressed that for this purpose, economic reforms were carried out, increasing the minimum wage and, accordingly, increasing revenues to the Pension Fund and raising pensions.
