President urged the EU leaders to continue sanctions against Russia given the non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements

President Petro Poroshenko urged the European leaders to keep sanctions against Russian aggressor giventhe non-fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and the absence of any steps that would help establish peace in Ukraine.
"I called on the leaders of Europe to be mobilized, ensure unity and continue sanctions against the Russian Federation because of the absence of any progress in the implementation of the Minsk agreements, provision of the stable ceasefire regime and withdrawal of Russian troops and Russian artillery from the Ukrainian territory, to ensure progress in the release of hostages illegally kept in the occupied territories, in the prisons of Russia and in the territory of the occupied Crimea," the Head of State said during the conversation with journalists in Helsinki.
"And I felt a powerful and full support for Ukraine by the European Union," Petro Poroshenko stated.
He also noted that he had taken part in the work of the 25th Congress of the European People"s Party. According to him, the main topic was the issue of peace. "The position was one: how we can save the world, how we can ensure the unity of the European Union," he said.
