"It is extremely important that sanctions against Moscow are related not only to Ukraine. This means that the world comes to an understanding that Russia is not only our problem. That Russia is a threat to the whole civilized world and democratic world. That Russia wants to use the principles and rules of diplomacy to achieve the goals of the hybrid war," President Petro Poroshenko said during his speech at the 15th annual Yalta European Strategy (YES) meeting.
The Head of State added that politicians calling for the lifting of sanctions act not only against Ukraine, but also against the entire transatlantic community.
"Russian interference in electoral processes is not a purely Ukrainian problem, as it was twenty years ago. The Kremlin's crusade against democracy, against freedom gained the features of the global hybrid war. It's very good that we are now coordinating our efforts with western partners to develop a reliable mechanism for preventing third-party interference in the electoral process," the President said. He cited the words of Jared Cohen that the best way to protect the Free World is to protect Ukraine.
"Last Saturday, the Danish government introduced a plan to counter Russian interference in the electoral process. President Macron directly stated that Putin wants to collapse the European Union. President Trump signed a decree yesterday that allows sanctions against foreigners for interference in the electoral process," the Head of State reminded.
According to the President, it is always necessary to coordinate what was implemented in response to interference in elections or a chemical attack in Salisbury.
