Ukraine is
ready for a strategic cooperation with Georgia to ally themselves
with the NATO Membership Action Plan (MAP), however, simultaneous MAP accession
with Georgia is not the aim, Ukraine"s First Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Kupchyshyn said.
"Obviously,
an active dialogue on the issue is now running between our sides, at the expert
level particularly. At the same time, every side understands that we, all the
same, are moving differently. In spite of the fact that strategic Euro-Atlantic
interests of Ukraine and Georgia coincide, some tactical things may
differ," he noted.
The
official pointed out that, on the one hand, Ukraine has no such problems with
frozen conflicts as Georgia has with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
"It is
not ruled out that Ukraine and Georgia may ally themselves
with MAP simultaneously, but it is not an ultimate aim," Kypchyshyn underscored.
