Mykola Prysyazhnyuk: To optimize the export of grain it is necessary to improve the railway communication system

Reducing dynamic of export of grain
production in February is caused by the problems with railroad transportation.
To solve this problem the state should initiate construction of new grain
wagons to improve grain exports. This was informed by the Minister of Agrarian
Policy and Food Mykola Prysyazhnyuk
at a briefing within the framework of the Government session, today.
"In January 2012, Ukraine
exported nearly 2 million tons of grain, and in February - 1.2 million tons.
Reducing export dynamics in February was due to climatic conditions in the
ports and transport links because the "UZ" was not able to provide
the required number of wagons for transportation," said the Minister.
However, according to Mykola Prysyazhnyuk, to address
the situation the Government has taken several steps to optimize the use of
railway cars, including in the agricultural sector. By this time the
transportation problem was solved using the arrangements with grain traders.
"In compliance
with the memorandums, we hold monthly meetings with traders to correct dynamics
of exports and to consider those problems which exist today. And similar
tradition gives its positive results. So there was worked out the mechanism of
transporting grain to ports using trains. However, it is clear that currently
we need to build new wagons in order to improve the volumes and dynamics of
export," said Mykola Prysyazhnyuk.
