We need to step up efforts to increase international support in the struggle for the return of Crimea to Ukraine - Petro Poroshenko

During the requiem for the 75th anniversary of the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko stressed that Russia was trying to turn the Crimean peninsula into a militarized zone, and Ukraine must do everything to strengthen international support in the fight for the liberation of its land.
"Crimea, our Ukrainian Crimea, was turned into a militaristic foothold, and one cannot rule out the possible deployment of nuclear weapons on the peninsula. The infrastructure for this has already been built up. Russia has used the last five years for its restoration and modernization," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
"In this context, the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities should be aimed at preserving and increasing the level of global support for Ukraine in its struggle against Russian aggression and illegal annexation of Crimea, at strengthening the international pressure on Russia to release all the hostages of the Kremlin," the Head of State emphasized.
The President also said that it was necessary to demand from Russia the fulfillment of the decision of the International Court on refraining from maintaining or introducing restrictions on the right of the Crimean Tatars to have their representative institutions, including the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people.
"In the end, at the complete liberation of Ukraine"s territories from Russian occupation," the President emphasized.
