We will not ask Putin where we should move on - President signed amendments to the Constitution on the strategic course of Ukraine for membership in the EU and NATO

President Petro Poroshenko took part in a special session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the Russian armed aggression against Ukraine. The meeting was also attended by President of the European Council Donald Tusk who is on a working visit to Ukraine.
The Head of State announced the decision to sign the law on amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine on the strategic course of the state for the full membership in the European Union and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. During the signing of the law the President was joined by Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Andriy Parubiy and Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman.
"I would like to invite Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Parubiy and Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman in the presence of the President of the European Council - one of the leaders of the European Union, a friend of Ukraine Donald Tusk to certify the unity of all branches of power in the matter of European and Euro-Atlantic integration," the Head of State invited the heads of executive and legislative branches of power to join the signing ceremony.
"I believe my strategic mission is to ensure the irreversibility of European and Euro-Atlantic integration. To apply for membership in the European Union and receive a NATO Membership Action Plan by 2023. This is our common task," the Head of State said.
"In carrying out this mission, I swear to adhere to the Constitution of Ukraine, including its new provisions, which I propose to sign right here," Petro Poroshenko informed.
"Today, we are not going to look back at Russia. We will not ask Putin where we should move on. We are going our way. We make our own decision on how to ensure our own security, sovereignty and territorial integrity," the Head of State said.
According to him, ten years ago, due to the lack of a single line of the President, Parliament, Government, Ukraine has lost an opportunity to get the MAP. "Today, I emphasize this separately, the position of the Head of State, the position of the Cabinet of Ministers, the position of the leadership of the Parliament and the Parliament of Ukraine is unanimous. I am grateful to all of you for this," Petro Poroshenko emphasized.
He noted that this was evidenced by 334 votes - the convincing majority - for constitutional changes. The Head of State expressed his sincere gratitude to the people"s deputies.
