President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko during a meeting with lecturers and student activists of Ternopil region called on the youth to take advantage of the opportunities that are opening to them.
The Head of State reminded that in November he had signed a decree on the creation of the fund for the support of educational and scientific programs for the youth. According to the President, he only initiated this program. The Council, which will select the candidates, who at the expense of the state will have an opportunity to go abroad for a master"s program or receive grants to visit foreign scientific centers for the preparation of their scientific projects, will include students, scientists and representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science. "But you must come back. You do not return - you compensate for the expenses of the fund. You come back - it"s free. It seems to me that this is fair. We now have a great opportunity to get a double degree. But the financial assistance provided by the fund will provide an opportunity for the young people to study at master"s programs even if they do not have the money for it, conduct research in the world"s leading higher education institutions and research institutions, even if they do not have enough money for it. And this will become the basis for the implementation of promising and progressive educational and scientific programs," the Head of State noted.
"Dear youth, this is, in my opinion, already a powerful message for you - study and the Ukrainian state, not a foreign state as it used to be, will finally support your endeavors, your aspirations of professional development, self-realization for the sake of Ukraine," Petro Poroshenko added.
The President stressed that at present, the conscientious education must necessarily become a priority for the youth. "Education has always been a priority of the state. I think that this is not a budget expenditure. This is an investment in the future. My position is that the cost of education should clearly correspond to the percentage of GDP and increase," he said. According to the Head of State, the countries that want to take a leading position must ensure high qualification of the labor potential of citizens, which provides for high-quality education and the ability to compete on an equal basis with the citizens of highly developed countries. "Therefore these citizens will have more opportunities for self-realization and prosperous life," he added.
The President also noted changes in the Ukrainian school - the new Ukrainian school has nothing to do with the former Soviet school.
"I believe in you and I wish you all peace, good health, generous fate, inexhaustible energy for future accomplishments," the Head of State addressed the youth. The President believes that by joint efforts Ukrainians will be able to continue to change the country.
