During a working trip to Dnipropetrovsk region, President Petro Poroshenko opened the New Year's mini-football tournament "Slobozhanske Constellation" in a newly built sports complex of the Slobozhanske village united territorial community.
"It is very important that we open not only the tournament today. It is very important that it takes place in a new sports complex. This is the first tournament in this complex," the President addressed the audience. He recalled that he had promised to visit the first tournament during the opening of a new kindergarten in the same community.
"We keep our word. This is a symbol of how the country is being changed. This is a symbol of decentralization. A symbol when the community is united, when they have a worthy leader who cares about spending every penny of budget funds - funds from the local budget. Because the community finally has these funds," Petro Poroshenko said.
He noted that due to the unification of the efforts of the community, the regional and state budget managed to collect the necessary 125 million hryvnias for the construction of the complex. Due to this the complex was built in extremely short terms, the President emphasized.
"For whom was this done? For children who finally have an opportunity to go in for sports in Slobozhanske with conditions that are not worse than in Dnipro or Kyiv. And this is the care for people. This is the protection of people. And we will not stop here," the Head of State emphasized
He noted that schools were also being repaired, and the new kindergarten was already working effectively: "And this is a sign of our changes. Changes for the better".
According to him, decentralization made it possible now to build and develop cities and villages. Dnipropetrovsk region today has unique achievements, as more than 80% of its communities in the countryside have already united. "And people themselves determine how to use their money," the President noted.
The Head of State thanked everyone who works for the development of the community, as well as those who joined the construction of the complex: "I thank each one of you - who prayed for the church, who supports Ukraine, who makes our festive event possible. I want to thank all those involved in the construction of this complex, I want to thank the whole team for the organization".
"When a person works for people, people feel it," Petro Poroshenko said.
The President wished young athletes new achievements. "I wish victories to be here and let the strongest win. I want these children to grow up and live in a glorious Ukraine, which by that time will have become a member of the EU necessarily," he said, noting that membership in the European Union and NATO is a key vector of our development.
