NATO and EU doors are open for Ukraine - President
20.11.2018 17:40 | Press office of President
President Petro Poroshenko said that Ukraine made its geopolitical choice and the doors of NATO and the European Union are open for our country.
"We are moving closer to membership in the European Union and NATO step by step. And do not believe those skeptics who say that this will never happen," the President noted. According to the Head of State, the Ukrainian delegation has returned from the session of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the Foreign Minister of Ukraine has returned from the meeting of the US-Ukraine Strategic Partnership Commission agreed upon during the meeting with US President Donald Trump. "Both meeting clearly stated - NATO's doors are open to Ukraine," he said.
He added that "everything depends on us". "Conduct reforms, change the country and everything will be fine. The same applies to the European Union," Petro Poroshenko added.
"Many of our opponents would like us to give up and lose faith in victory. This will not happen," the President said, adding that in the coming days, the Constitutional Court will consider the presidential initiative to include “the purpose of our policy - membership in the EU and NATO" in the Basic Law and the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, in turn, will vote for these amendments to the Constitution Of Ukraine.
At the same time, the President expressed hope that the Parliament will support these amendments to the Constitution by a constitutional majority.
"And we will make our movement, our steps irreversible. Why is it easy to do? Because people support it," the President of Ukraine summed up.
