President Poroshenko emphasizes the importance of establishing the Autocephalous Orthodox Ukrainian church, which is one of the most important elements of state building. "One of the important elements of state building is our Ukrainian Autocephalous Orthodox Church," Petro Poroshenko said during a speech in the Kherson State Maritime Academy.
Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, head of the Crimean and Kherson dioceses of the UOC KP Klyment thanked the President for his efforts aimed at the decision of the Synod of the Erumenical Patriarchate to grant autocephaly to the Ukrainian church.
"I remember October 2014, when at night, at gunpoint, you stood in the Simferopol airport. You were the only Ukrainian politician who dared to arrive in Crimea. You could not do anything because you were alone. But God was with you and he blessed you to become the President of Ukraine," the Archbishop said.
Archbishop Klyment emphasized: "Today, during the war, you are trying to unite the Ukrainian people around the Autocephalous Ukrainian church. You are not alone - God and the Ukrainian people are with you. Accept our gratitude and prayer, so that the Lord bless you and all of us in the glory of God".
