President Petro Poroshenko and his wife Maryna Poroshenko took part in the opening ceremony of the Hall of Remembrance on the territory of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. The Hall of Remembrance of the Defenders of Ukraine was created to honor the memory of servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine who died for freedom, independence and territorial integrity of Ukraine, world peace and order during 1992 - 2018.
"Today, we are starting a new tradition with you - a new ritual of commemoration of Ukrainian heroes who gave their lives for the Ukrainian people to live. It is not a coincidence that this tradition begins on the Day of the Defender of Ukraine on October 14," Petro Poroshenko.
“This is due to them that the Ukrainian people lives and will live. This is due to them that the Russian aggression was stopped. Due to them, Kyiv, Dnipro, Lviv, hundreds of our cities and tens of thousands of villages and settlements have an opportunity to live a peaceful life. Low bow and eternal memory. We will not forget and we will not forgive the aggressor," Petro Poroshenko said.
The chaplain of the 25th separate airborne assault brigade Oleksandr Medviediev noted the importance of a new tradition of honoring the heroes who died for the freedom and independence of our state. He also thanked the President for introducing the institute of chaplains in the Ukrainian army. According to him, the presence of priests in the Ukrainian army provides support for the military. "We pray for all the military who are fighting for Ukraine. We pray for all who died in the past," Oleksandr Medviediev noted.
The construction of the Hall of Remembrance was carried out with the direct support of the President.
