President of Ukraine met with President of Slovakia

During his visit to New York, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with President of the Slovak Republic Andrej Kiska.
The topical issues of bilateral and multilateral agenda were discussed.
The interlocutors praised the ongoing trends of increasing trade turnover between the two countries. The importance of holding a regular meeting of the bilateral Ukrainian-Slovak intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation in the near future was noted. They also discussed strengthening border cooperation, as well as increasing the transit role of Ukraine.
In the context of Slovakia"s chairmanship in the OSCE in 2019, the Presidents of the two countries focused on the ways to strengthen the role of this organization in monitoring the observance of human rights in the occupied territories of Ukraine and the process of liberating the Ukrainian political prisoners of the Kremlin.
The cooperation of Ukraine and Slovakia on the European integration and in the framework of international organizations was also discussed.
