The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine jointly
with MPs engages in elaboration of a bill aimed to introduce payment for the use of gas
distribution networks without an increase in gas prices for ultimate consumers.
Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Groysman announced during A Question Time
for the Government at the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
He reminded that the Government had been a
staunch opponent of introduction of an additional fee for gas delivery, which would
increase the final cost of fuel.
"We expressed this stance on the instant,
and the situation was resolved at one time”, said Volodymyr Groysman. “As for
the network, one of the solutions is to amend the law in what to prohibit the
free use of gas distribution networks. The working group (consisting of
government officials and parliamentarians) is now working to shape the law. And
here we will need the support of Parliament to adopt the law ... This (use of
networks) should be carried out on a paid basis, and it is vital to invest in
the network to make it safe to use, nevertheless these steps shouldn’t result
in an increase in payments for gas consumption."
