The Monitoring mission of the Ministry of information policy
of Ukraine is currently analyzing the presence of the Ukrainian broadcasting in
ATO zone on the frontline. Because today there are a lot of talk about who and how can watch Ukrainian on-air broadcasting in the
occupied territories.
Advisor to the Minister on ensuring TV and Radio
broadcasting in ATO zone Oleksandr Brygynets (MP of Ukraine) reports from frontline, that the
monitoring mission of MIP is unable to verify the signal quality on the other
side of the demarcation line, but there are other ways to solve this problem:
it is necessary to check what is broadcasted and how it is broadcasted in the
nearest points to Donetsk.
"In the nearest to Donetsk checkpoint from Avdiivka,
our guys have the ability to watch "5 Kanal"
and "1 + 1", says Oleksandr Brygynets. “Also, our military men are
using more and more often individual gadgets: tablets, smartphones, which are now accessible to almost every
military man after a substantial pay raise, for watching Ukrainian TV channels.
However, an on-air broadcasting is not canceled".
According to experts, after the introduction of 2 new TV
towers in Donetsk region, one of which will be installed on the Karachun mountain, the number and
signal quality of the Ukrainian TV channels in occupied territories will
increase significantly.
Recall that in early July 2014, during the
fighting, the TV tower on Karachun mountain
was destroyed, which deprived of the Ukrainian broadcasting a large northern
area of Donetsk region. A number of activities of the Ministry of information
policy of Ukraine significantly influenced the situation (around 50
transmitters were installed in ATO zone), but the problem can be solved only by
the installation of the new TV tower.
MIP has initiated this work, but technical problems and the
duration of tender procedures delayed the process, which is managed by the BRT
Concern.
As was
reported earlier by Advisor to the Minister in ATO zone Oleksandr
Brygynets, now the TV tower is ready for
installation: the first constructions of a new 180 meter tower were delivered
on Karachun.
