President: I. Franko Theater is our pride

President Petro Poroshenko took part in festivities on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Ivan Franko National Academic Drama Theater. The Head of State congratulated the staff of the theater on the anniversary and the International Day of Theater.
"The path of Ivan Franko Theater is personification of dramatic and heroic history of our nation, its reflection. Your theater has always been an object of pride, brand of Ukraine, leader of national consciousness and carrier of national spirit and character," the President noted.
Petro Poroshenko noted active civil position of actors and theater staff during the Revolution of Dignity and the struggle for Ukrainian statehood. "Ivan Franko Theater works hard to support our soldiers, our heroes that protect Ukrainian sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence," he said. In particular, the artists perform in hospitals and raise funds to support the Ukrainian army. He also recalled that the artist of the theater Yevhen Nishchuk had been the voice of the Revolution of Dignity and master of stage Andriy Movchan was one of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred.
For decades, creativity of Franko Theater"s artists has been amusing, setting the tone, forcing to think, giving wonderful emotions and high feelings, making this world much kinder, humane, more just and merciful," he said. The President shares the opinion of Les" Kurbas: "Theater today should demonstrate what society should be tomorrow".
Today, Franko Theater creates high-quality artistic products, embodies projects of various genres and enjoys extraordinary popularity among viewers. The President wished artists and employees of the theater peace, tireless enthusiasm, young talents and triumph on European stages. The President said: "Why do we win - because we have a strong spirit - the spirit of the Ukrainian nation formed in these theater walls".
The President presented state awards to actors and employees of the theater.
