President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Prime Minister of Canada Stephen Harper. Petro Poroshenko has expressed gratefulness for the Canadian hospitality in the course of his visit to Ottawa on September 17. Stephen Harper has noted that the visit of Petro Poroshenko had been successful and had a positive response in Canadian society.
The Head of State has also expressed gratitude to Canada for the strong support of Ukraine demonstrated in the course of the G20 Summit in Australia.
The parties have discussed the situation in the Donbas. The President has thanked Canada for the decision to allocate military-technical assistance to Ukraine in te amount of USD 11 million. The assistance includes sets of clothes and shoes, winter clothing, demining equipment, communications equipment, night vision equipment and other optical equipment, medical equipment, including field mobile hospital and medical supplies. The first part of this assistance has already been delivered.
The parties have also discussed possible increase of economic assistance to Ukraine through the mechanism of international financial organizations. The interlocutors have praised the restoration of expert negotiations on the free trade area between Ukraine and Canada. They have agreed that it should be established by the end of 2015.
