Government suspends the Health Minister. PM gives 21 days to complete the procurement of medicines

At a meeting held on Wednesday, October 1, the Government of Ukraine has decided to suspend Health Minister Oleh Musiy
from office and
dismissed
his First Deputy Ruslan Saliutin.
All members of the Government have voted for this decision. Three have abstained from
voting.
Deputy Minister of Health of Ukraine - Head of the Staff Vasyl Lazoryshynets
would fulfill the duties of the Health Minister.
The
Government of Ukraine has also decided to appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine to investigate inaction of the MOH’s management as to procurement
of medicines.
At
the meeting of the Government Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk has said that the National Public Service conducted an internal investigation into the drug procurement by the Ministry of Health: "The Ministry of
Health has bought only
25 % of the
total amount of drugs that was supposed to buy and it is almost the end of the year."
He has recalled that he personally gave dozens of orders as to procurement of drugs at the government meetings and government
consultations.
Arseniy Yatsenyuk has proposed to the Cabinet of
Ministers to dismiss the Minister of Health and his First Deputy.
"The Ministry of Health along
with the Ministry of Finance in accordance with the law has 21 days to complete the procurement. I’m not going to put up with it," the Prime Minister stressed.
